Reaction to the Carson Wentz Trade

 This morning Adam Schefter made the announcement that Carson Wentz had been traded to the Indianapolis Colts for a third-round and a conditional second-round pick. The conditional means that the second-round pick has the chance to turn into a first-round pick at a later date. Along with giving up Wentz the Eagles also carry a dead-money cap hit of $33.8 million dollars. Everyone knew this day was coming but no one knew when or who would be the team to land Wentz. Many had predicted the Colts ever since Phillip Rivers announced his retirement. 

As a Chicago Bears fan, I can say that I'm glad the bears did not decide to try their luck on Wentz. He would be a clear upgrade at the position for them, but they have many other issues that they need to fix first. However, the Colts are set up for success and I could see Wentz thriving with them. While he did struggle mightily this past year, the Colts have a fantastic offensive line that will be able to help him stay upright. Even with an aging Phillip Rivers the Colts were able to go 11-5 and make the playoffs so if Wentz can be a game manager then he should be able to win games. Overall, I think it was a good trade for both teams as the Eagles were clearly ready to move on from Wentz, and the Colts are looking for their long term plan at the quarterback position.

Andrew Shaw Retires

 Lets be honest. This year sucks for the Blackhawks. It started off with the ownership announcing that the team is entering a transition period and would not actively be trying to win for the first time in a long time. While that was needed it still sucks to hear. On top of the play on the ice not being up to the level fans have gotten used to there has been key players missing. Seabrook tried to come back but injuries made him retire. Toews never even started the year, but has been on long term injured reserved all year. The team decided not to bring back Crawford so he also retired. Now it is Andrew Shaw who is stepping away from hockey and retiring.  Unfortunately Shaw has had an awful time with concussions during his entire time in the NHL. Cubs baseball is back!

 After what seemed to be forever, baseball is finally back! The Cubs played their first spring training game yesterday and have another one today. Even though its not regular season and we can't watch all of the games it is still a good feeling to see the updates on social media. Every year I enjoy watching all of the activities that happen during the spring training games. During this time everyone is more relaxed and just focused on getting back to playing shape and enjoying their time with their team. A lot of times this is when fun activities happen that do not happen during the regular season. An example of this would be Cubs first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, bringing his dog to the field yesterday.  Overall I'm just happy that baseball is on the verge of being fully back now. Baseball has always been a summer time hobby for me so reading and seeing the news just means the summer is almost here. I'm hopeful that maybe we'll be able to watch some games in person this ye...

Brent Seabrook has officially retired

 We all knew this day was coming but I don't think we were ready for it to come in the middle of a season like this. It sucks that his career had to end this way, but there is not doubt that he leaves behind a huge legacy. He was one of the main anchors that lead this team to three Stanley Cups in six years. Not only that but he had one of the biggest goals in franchise history when he scored the game-winning goal against the Red Wings in the 2013 Western Conference Finals. Across his 15 year career he had 19 game-winning goals but none of the others match up to that one.  He will be the first one to admit that in the early years of his career he didn't care of his body the way he should have, so this is just his body saying no. The unfortunate events started with him missing most of last year in order to have two major surgeries.
